Early production runs of the #4306, 4307, 5306 and 5307 were manufactured with what’s known as the “Page Patent” lever cap, a lever action or knuckle joint cap. The production model was very close to the actual patented design and has the patent date cast into the back side. Identical otherwise, the 4300 series were japanned and the 5300 nickel plated.
The Black Nitrate finish was used from 1943-1949 on the #5306 & #5307
