Stanley #A5 Jack Plane

Stanley #A5 Jack Plane

STANLEY #A5 Jack plane, 14″L, 2″W, 2 5/8lbs, 1925-1935.

The bed and frog on the A5 are made from aluminum, which makes the plane lighter. This was the supposed appeal of these planes, that they are lighter than the iron planes. That, and that they weren’t prone to rusting. Rosewood was used for the knob and tote.
