The picture should tell the whole story. The 5424 is a bit uncommon and kind of hard to find.
The base has been stripped and refinished.
For a Sargent user or Collector, this should fit the bill.
See the chip breaker has a fair bit of pitting, but it’s been tuned and it works. Keep it oiled and it will not fail you.
Note the blade has been sharpened with the ruler trick because of some minor pitting
