This is a cleaned Defiance #1204 Smoothing Plane. It’s been sharpened and tuned and only lightly cleaned. This is a great low cost smoothing plane.
The knob and tote are original with most of the original finish missing.
Japanning (or actually grey paint) is original and is not that great. Stripping and refinishing would not be that difficult or you could just keep it oiled or waxed and just keep using it.
