Gage (Stanley made) #G6 Fore (my# G6-080817-3)
This plane is basically as found.
This is the fore plane of the Stanley Gage Self Setting Planes. This plane is in great shape for its age but there are a few details that must be pointed out: (please see the pics) The tote has been repaired and there is some pitting on one side of the plane.
The japanning is about 60% (see photos).
John Gage was issued his patent No. 323,804 on Aug 4th 1885The Gage tool Co in Vineland NJ only made a wood based transitional plane. When Stanley bought the company in 1919 they started producing the metallic planes like this one. The design for this plane was patented to Edmund Schade on Feb 17 1920 and offered through 1941.
