Sargent #409 Smoother Type 4a
This Sargent #409 smoother has a unique characteristic i have not seen before. Note the guides machined in the sides of the frog and seat. This is the only one like this I’ve seen(although I have seen another frog like it). The VBM is arguably one of the finest Bailey style vintage planes ever manufactured. They came out of the factory ready to work and have been ready ever since. They typically require very little tuning or flatten like other manufactures do.
