Sargent #408 Type 5
This is a type 5 Sargent #408.
- The #408 is 9” ling and has a 1 3/4” cutter
- It weight is 2# 15.6 ozs
- This one comes with a Stanley cutter
- The knob and tote is Mahogany. I’ve sanded and refinished it with a few coats of lacquer. (see photos)
- It has a right handed cutter adjuster
- As with all Sargent #400 series there is no frog adjustment screw.
- It has been sharpened.
I have not tuned this Sargent as I typically do not find a Sargent of this vintage needs tuning. Sargent did a very fine job tuning their planes before they left the factory.
