Gage (Stanley made) #G3 Smoother (my# G3-080817-2) .. (includes US shipping) (US Shipments only)
This plane is basically as found.
This is the smallest, and the rarest, of the Stanley Gage Self Setting Planes. This plane is in great shape for its age but there are a few details that must be pointed out: (please see the pics) Chips (maybe chunk is a better word) off the top of one cheek. It’s well above the pins, so it will not affect the performance.
The japanning is in great shape and as near 100% as i have seen, the rosewood is break free and next to perfect, the blade still has lots of life in it and the plane is free of any rust and pitting. Please look closely at the pics for details.
John Gage was issued his patent No. 323,804 on Aug 4th 1885The Gage tool Co in Vineland NJ only made a wood based transitional plane. When Stanley bought the company in 1919 they started producing the metallic planes like this one. The design for this plane was patented to Edmund Schade on Feb 17 1920 and offered through 1941.
