Fulton #32 Jack Plane – German made – like a #5

It’s German made, probably made by Kunz, and sold as a Fulton

A note from Greg Ricketts:

The Fulton 32 plane is the size of a Stanley No 5. It was manufactured by Kunz GmbH, Germany in 1927 and imported to the USA by United Hardware & Tool Corp. It is NOT part of the Sears, Roebuck & Co., Fulton brand line of tools and is far less common.

The design is a variation on the Stanley Bedrock. The lateral lever design and frog are often confused for Stanley Bedrock planes.

The front knob has a distinctive taller, narrower profile than other bench planes.

The design and construction of the plane are very solid and performance is on par with any bench of that era, superior to many.

If you want a good user tools with a less common history than a Stanley plane, this would be a good choice. Iron is standard 2” width and can be replaced as necessary.

Image is from the United Tool & Hardware Corp catalog of 1927.
